Jonathan Rea set the fastest time, in spite of missing most of yesterday's free practice due to an early spill. He set the time at the end of a session that was topped by Carlos Checa for the majority of the time. Leon Haslam, who used to run race schools at this track, beat provisional pole man Jakub Smrz, although Smrz's earlier qualifying time of 1'28.740 is still the fastest time of the day.

Donington Park is renowned for giving fans exciting races. 48,500 of them turned up over the weekend to brave the cold wind and watch the most exciting racing Superbike races of the year. Crashes, surprises, upsets and spills were the order of the day while history was made and old enmities revisited.
The weekend started on Thursday with a white water rafting experience at Hole Pierpoint watersports centre. Leon Haslam, Chaz Davies, Eugene Laverty and Sam Lowes all messed about in a dinghy while facing the artificial rapids. Every one of the racers fell in at some point and Sam Lowes may have ingested the local water and contracted food poisoning that ravaged his insides and threatened to ruin his weekend.

The new 750 motor in our rig is fierce. We were pulling the entire field from the start only to DNF due to a stripped shift lever. Gremlins…grrrrrrr, With a little effort and some help from Frank Camillieri , we got Mr. nasty back together to win the second sidecar race later in the day.

Before we quickly gloss over the inevitable mention of the weather, it would be unfair not to mention the current reason for the increase in popcorn sales in the Superbike paddock. Jakub Smrz put his Effenbert-sponsored Ducati on provisional pole while his sponsor's future is uncertain. After a rather odd press release that seems to have been written while angry at one of their bikes braking down on the warm up lap at Monza, the Czech brewer refused to bring their hospitality suite to Donington. The Liberty Racing teams look set to continue racing for the remainder of the year, and may even be a bit embarrassed by their heated press release, but time will tell if it will be under the same sponsor's banner. The bikes at Donington sported the Effenbert livery and the garage was still decked in their colours, but no word yet on brolly dollies or other promotional activities.

Valentino Rossi and Monster Energy put together a 3 car team and partnered up to shoot VR’s exploits at the wheel of a WRC Fiesta for the 2011 edition of the Monza Rally Show. The MotoGP GOAT doesn’t get a load of time to throw a rally car round with a co-driver barking out calls but let’s face it, he’s got a knack of being super fast on in any kind of race format. Over the course of the weekend, Valentino come a close second (in 2 race formats) to multiple WRC champ Seb Loeb and even beat the ace in the 2 stages he topped. Mammoth Track Club trains in the high elevations of the Eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains in California. Mammoth Lakes, California is located with in the boundary of the Long Valley Caldera. Geologic wonderland. Geologists from around the world come here to study. Ansel Adams came this area to take pictures, now athletes come here to train. Short and long distance runners like Deena Drossin Kastor, Meb Keflezighi, Brian Ball, Jen Rhines. Ryan Hall a former member of the team will all compete in the Houston Track & Field Olympic trials on January 14, 2012. Meb wins Houston Marathon Olympic trials. His ticket to the 2012 London Summer Olympics.
